Romania Partnership

sighisoaraThe Madison Baptist Association now has a partnership with the churches of the Sibiu Baptist Association in Romania. This Association consists of 136 churches who are led by 56 pastors (some pastors serve 3 to 4 churches). Although mission groups from the Madison Association had already served in Romania in the years past, the official kick off to this partnership occurred in May of 2014 when a group from the MBA travelled to Romania to conduct a three-day pastor’s retreat, preach & lead music in the churches, and provide counselor training for a Christian pregnancy care center. The MBA plans to send a mission team to Romania once per year, and our churches are encouraged to be personally involved in this partnership. MBA churches can adopt a Romanian church from the Sibiu Association and cultivate a relationship with that congregation. We have a notebook at the MBA office that lists the Romanian churches and tells a little bit about each one, so you are invited to stop by the MBA office and learn more about these sister churches. Or you might even be interested in travelling to Romania and being a part of a future mission trip. The types of ministries/assistance that the Romanian pastors stated are most needed in their country include summer camps for children & youth (including sports camps), evangelistic events (such as block parties, street/house to house evangelism, etc.), Vacation Bible Schools, construction of buildings, medical ministry, church planting (such as in the Gypsy villages), youth ministry helps, adult discipleship, and music training. Let’s all be in prayer about the wonderful, ongoing opportunity before us to assist our Romanian brothers & sisters in Christ in reaching their part of the world with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ!
